LCR SUSSEX DAY 2011 - 25 SEPTEMBER

Post by Graham139 »

This year's Sussex Day will commence at 10am on Sunday 25 September meeting at the Five Bells public house at North Chailey and joining like-minded petrol heads for the excellent breakfast meeting that the landlord lays on. The bacon rolls, hot dogs, tea and coffee will go down a treat - and (Scott please note) the bar opens at 10am!

At 12 o'clock we'll set off in convoy for a run and pose through the Sussex countryside. I'll prepare a route map and will hand these out to those who turn up on the day. The Five Bells (postcode BN8 4DA) is on the A275 about 5 miles north of Lewes. To enable me to keep a track of numbers, please let me know through the forum if you plan to attend. PLEASE NOTE that I'll probably call it off if the weather is bad on the day! Thanks, Graham(139)

Hi Graham,
Sounds tempting, but I'm away at a bike rally that weekend, so can't make it.
Also hope to have the cylinderhead off by then, for some much needed work.
Hope the weather stays good for you and have fun!

I'm bringing this back to the top as time is getting close for this event! So far there are just two of us up for it! Any more takers?

To put this back to the top again,

Graham there seems to be three of us now, is it worth the effort of organising all this for three cars? its another very dissapointing response to a different type of event.

The route is already planned Rick! If it's a nice day I'll go anyway even though I may be running around the countryside by myself!

Weather looks good for Sunday, 23C, maybe the last of the good weather this year, just the time to get the LC out for a Autumnal blast round the Sussex countryside.

Many thanks to Graham for organising this years Sussex Day, he even made sure of great weather. the Five Bells car park was overflowing with all manner of cars, young Lewis had a shock when the Dodge Viper took off.

A great route through the Sussex countryside, with spectacular views of the Downs, together with interesting stops at Lewis, Arlington, and lunch at the 6 Bells together with bikes, trikes and a lone Bubble Car, Jazz Band and Morris Men,

All in all a great day out doing what LCs were made to do, be driven.

Thanks again Graham.

It's my pleasure Rick. I'm just so pleased that you and Andy Morrell drove down to Sussex and enjoyed the day - it's a little ironical that I was the only one from Sussex! After weeks of careful planning, it was so disappointing for me that only three of us made the trip round! However, it was very pleasing to observe the amount of interest the general public showed in our cars every time we stopped! For me, the stop-off at Harveys Brewery Tap in the centre of Lewes, was well worth while - the highlight of my day - except of course seeing you and Andy turn up!!
