I would just like to say thanks to all those members who attended and supported the LCR at Silverstone over the three days, I think it is an event that the LCR should participate in for future years, but only with the support of the LCR membership.

As Sprint-GT mentioned in a previous post, it is the Committees intention to make 2013 a bumper year for events to celebrate the 50th Anniveresary of the introduction of the Lotus Cortina, so to all members with cars on the road or with works in progress, please make 2013 the year to get your LC up and running to join in the celebrations.

I would just like to add that no MGBs were harmed during the three days at Silverstone, for those of you of a nervous disposition.

Hi,most of us with Cortinas will be celebrating in 2012 and some of us will be in Cortina-de-Ampezzo again, hope some of you will be joining us but it will be nearly 3000 miles and it might rain.RONV.

If the National day is going to be held at the Silverstone Classic in 2013, then I'd better start saving now!
Did I see that a weekend ticket for this years event was over £100?
Add camping, food and copious amounts of alcohol (none of which will be cheap on-site) and I think we could end up with another low turnout.
Maybe we'll be well out of this recession by then. Maybe not!

May I add that there were 700 yes 700 E Types at Silverstone plus a designated E Type challenge race all to show and publicise the 50th anniversary of the E Type.

No I am not saying we have as many cars and can do the same thing but I am saying that there were 700 enthusiasts that wanted to drive their pride and joy and to show off what an icon it is.
If you own a Lotus Cortina what is the point of having it if you don't want to show anyone the pride you have in owning and driving it.
Opening the garage door smiling to yourself and then closing them again is not a good human trait as we are social animals and need to belong to a group.

Its 2 years away how many cars can be on the road by then?

Remember we are looking to you the membership to represent the cars and the LCR not only in the UK but the rest of the world.
Just look what was achieved recently in the States at Leguna Seca they are still talking about it!

Have a think get those cars ready and enjoy!

If you can't afford once a year to pay £100 for three days for two people to display your car at one of the best venues i have ever attended in the UK for three days, then sell your car to someone who does want to show it off and share with others. The E type turnout was nothing short of staggering, i could not believe how many at one time were on the circuit. These enthusiasts were both passionate and very proud for the world to see there pride and joy.
The general public had to pay £46.00 each to see the racing and view our cars per day and turned up in their thousands.This venue is a classic car and petrol heads' dream location, the atmosphere amazing. There was also so much intererst in our cars, let's not forget the U2tc racing which featured 22 yes 22! lotus cortinas' racing for 50mins against alfas' minis' etc with three lotus cortinas' finnishing in the top four. The sight of these cars on the track will stay with me forever it was by far the best race of the day..., however i am a tad biased. So all this going on with entertainment at night and lots more to see, there were 7000 classics on display.

So if you can't afford it...., you have a year (two years for 2013), so start saving, we have a lot of catching up to do. There is too much discussing and not enough doing! Look forward to seeing as many of you as possible, let the public see us enjoying our cars and what a privilege its is to own one.

Cheaper and of more interest than the Olympics I feel!
Easier to get a ticket as well!!

Hi,I agree with Andy and Will I have used my LCs for 4 shows this year and the public love them,there were 4 at Newby Hall Concours this month and it was raining all day. I will be going to Cortina de Ampezzo next year but in our MK1 Crayford I hope some of your members will be going as its a great trip.RONV.

But I like opening my garage door, smiling at my treasure and then closing the door again! Plus I could never take my pride and joy out in the rain, or even a stiff breeze, incase the paintwork is affected and I only ever travel a maximum of 10 miles away from home, at a maximum speed of 40mph to make sure no harm is done to my baby!!
I'm a flaming pensioner you know! I don't get over blown wage packets thrown at me every week for dilly-dallying about with milkfloats or printing presses!

I think you've got a touch of my syndrome! After a good social night out and a large suppage of falling down water I usually expediate lots of waffle on the forum to all and sundry!
Something a little different about yours though it says you posted it at 7.35!
I can only think you must have hit the ESB early!

700 E type's is about 1% of E Type production.

1% of LC would be about 50-60(more?) cars and would be a good aiming point.

I like ESB! And Tanglefoot and Exmoor Gold, then there's Otter Bright, 49er, parafin and cider.

Talking of real ales!
Ther Great British Beer Festival is on at Earls Court this week!
I will be there on Friday 5th Aug from about 12.30 onwards.
