Well you are right about Anglia standard engine sizes Pete, but lots and lots of them got uprated in the 60s. Even my dad had an estate with a 1340 conversion, with extra gauges on the dash and oversize rear tyres. All very boy racer.

P.S. Sorry to wander this off topic again, but I couldn't help myself.

My first car in the late 60s was a 997 and dearly wanted to put a 1500GT engine in it but wouldn't have had a clue how to do it then!

You have to compare standard cars with each other though not uprated ones.

I know where your coming from but I was thinking of a MGB as a sports car and a Anglia as a cheap runabout so thought it should have been about even with a few more CC's. :D

O, and the first ever car to be fitted with a Lotus Twin-cam engine was a Anglia and some Anglia's should be racing at Silverstone alongside the Cortina's so im still sort of on topic I think !

Hi Everyone,

I am hoping to get down to Silverstone on the Sunday, all things permitting and I look forward to meeting some of you and probably being impressed by your cars.

I am hoping to get to know those of you who actually have Lotus Cortinas and learning your opinions on all things classic and great.

If anyone has any info for me on Cortina MKIs hopefully you will share it with me when we get to meet.

Looking forward to seeing some classic cars really soon.

Everyone should now have received there passes, tickets etc. for those of us who are camping, Will P is setting up his camping spot on Thursday and has kindly voluntered to organise some space for fellow LCR campers. can all those who require camping space please pm me with a contact mobile phone number so I can let you know whereabouts to pitch up.

Also we have had a couple of cars drop out so if there is anyone who wants to attend with their Lotus Cortina please let me know asap, we also have some spare entry tickets and camping passes, we could really do with the support of the membership to make this event a success for the LCR.

Thanks to Rick for a Blue pass for the weekend and nice to meet a few of you. Sorry I parked with LDC (of which I am Chairman) - no snub intended it's just where I ended up!

Nice to meet5 Andy, PO of my car, who was pleased to see it out and about I think.

Just got back from the show.
Well done to all the guys who put cars on the stand, it looked excellent.
I chatted to a lot of the paying public during the show and all them said the best race to watch was the U2TC race with LC's running.
Great to chat with Geoff and look round his car on the Saturday (hope you get over the Gearbox problem), and great to have Martin put his car on the stand after the race.
Cheers
Louis
P.S Sorry I was in bed so early each night, the last of the dragon stout really hit me hard last night!

Thank you Rick (and others involved) for organising everything for such a great event and weekend. For those who did't go you missed probably the best classic car event in the UK and well worth the entrance fee. With our stand full to capacity on Sunday it was nice to see a great range of models including the 4 door police Lotus. I know that Rick is keen to enter our cars at premier events in 2013 (50th anniversary) with the possibility of parading them on the track at Silverstone and Goodwood. This will take a lot of work and will require all our support and commitment for it to happen. So all of you out there with your cars half built make an effort for 2013!

Thanks Rick for sorting a brilliant weekend & guiding me to the 'posh' camping Area with no MG's to be seen!, . . . . . Sorry only joking for those with NSOH. Was good to see the Lotus Cortina's do so well & I don't think I've been to an Quality Event of that size in recent years that was so easy to get into & get out of either. I did have a slight hangover on Sunday morning tho but that must be because Im a light weight & was out drinking & dancing at a pop concert with the big boys!
I've also remembered that Andy said feet are for dancing so I was taught something usefull too & won't be wearing them out walking !

Hi there guys, just a short note to say great to meet you all at last ; the stand was a really good turn out & glad you had a little space for my car !
I agree with the comments that the U2TC race was by far the closest contested, with battles all down the field ; we were v. happy to finish 16th in such a tight field.

I'll post some onboard video clips as soon as I get the software installed, as we only got the system on Friday before the event.

Cheers to everyone for a great weekend !!
