National Day 2008

Post by Andy M »

Hi All,
As of 16.00hrs on the 20th October this topic has had 1009 hits.
If they were all enthusiasts, owners or members it would be fantastic to see a 10th of that figure turn up over the weekend.
Remember its your weekend for your club.

Great day out. I think I've just managed to thaw out.

For me the speed that Colin has managed to rebuild Rossy's old MK1 from being on a trailer at last years National (or was it the years before) to an arrow straight show stopper is amazing. I really need to get in my garage and start doing a bit !

It was nice to put some faces to some names epecially Spainish Andy who I have been liasing with for about 3 years and never met until Sunday.

Andy / Rick - were there any attendance plaques being given out this year?

I was there on Saturday and Sunday with my Son and Grandson. NAR didn't make it though due to blowing the dynamo and/or RB440 on the rolling road last week. I take my hat off to the boys and girls who stayed overnight in their tents - that's REAL enthusiasm for you! It was bl**dy cold and it started raining hard at about 03.30 in the morning and didn't stop until just before practice commenced at 09.30. We felt sorry for them and hope that the sound and exhaust from the central heating blower emitting from our campervan didn't keep them awake all night. Mind you, after the amount of alcohol that was consumed on Saturday night, they should have slept like logs! The classic racing was great to watch as always and we particularly enjoyed watching the LC battle in it's attempt to stay in front of the Alpha. An all-round great weekend and our thanks to the committee members who organised it all - particularly LCR General Secretary Andy Morrell who struggled to get his car there (intermittent condenser problem I think) and struggled even more with sobriety on Sunday!! Thanks to you all from The Kents.......
