LCR National Day 2008 - Mallory Park on 26th October
Hi All,
LCR National Day will this year be at Mallory Park on 26th October.
We have been asked by members for a return to Mallory or another Racing Circuit preferably later in the year.
Unfortunately previous years have clashed with Fathers Day or an International Football/Rugby/Cricket/Hocky or Netball match which the committee has been assured is why attendances have been down.
We have now consulted the calender and we are sure this weekend does not clash with anything, so numbers should be up!
Any event organised will always clash with something so unless it is hair wash week please come along and support your club.
The event has been arranged to coincide with the "Top Hat Racing" series which is currently being shown on the Sky channel "Dave" as GT Racer.
This series features many exotic performance GTs such as Astons, GT40s Ferrari 250GTOs E Types, as well as the classic saloon cars such as Alfas, Porches and did I mention Lotus Cortinas!
Camping is available on the Saturday and all cars are £12 on the day inclusive of occupants. TBC
We have tried early in the year, and been told too soon! middle of the year, and told we are all on holiday! so now we are later in the year as requested by you the members.
Come on its only once a year and as its later it will give you more time to finish that restoration!

mallory national?
Is there any way it can be bought forward? I can't see that many "pot hunters" turning up when it's cold and wet/snowing. I have spoken to the Mk.1 club re my trophy and have been informed it would clash some what with their lotus trophy, not a problem it was just an idea. BUT do I still present it at Mallory? I'd like to say yes, but how many cars will be there? Will a "log book" and 2dr shell win it this year. I did think of sort of presenting it sort of posthumously! There are as we "all" know some superb cars come out of the wood work this last year, I have a short list already of 2 or 3 cars that realy should have a nice trophy on there mantle piece. Should I contact said owners and just let them know they have a trophy for the next year? NO judging? NO presentation? NO speaking to friends and associates to get the final winner picked out of my sometimes quite large short list?
That's if i'd got the trophy back from last years winner (hint, hint)!

National Day
Hi docspares,
Just as a reminder the National Day/Weekend is organised for the members and their cars not individuals.
People attend because they want too.
They also want to be out in their cars and attend an event where like minded people will also be there, sharing conversation and discussions from A to Z about anything and everything and trying to enjoy a weekend spent with there beloved cars.
We do everything we can to encourage members, we really don`t want people turning things to the negative with regard to the weather or indeed the timing of the event. We have tried early, middle and now later in the year.
Trying to run and organise a club or events and getting people to attend is a big enough headache without people stating the obvious.
I am sure the restored Mk1 cars that turn up really appreciate to see their hard work during their restoration honoured by the means of a presented trophy but, that trophy will only be presented for a Mk 1 restoration which, allienates half of our members, if a better Mk2 restoration were to attend then this would be overlooked by you the presenter. The trophy as I say is welcomed but as restorations are few and far between and only 1 or 2 cars attend annually that have been restored since the last National this means that overwhelmingly the rest of the attendies are there for the event, cars and the social gathering.
Our events have never been about spit and polish, we want to see as many cars as possible being used and enjoyed. We took a decision long ago that judging would be a collective by the members and they choose and they alone choose the winners, this shows no favouritism to any car or style of car, whether being correct in every detail, or with bits missing or custom it is down to the members to decide.
If our members were that fickle and wanted to be "Pot Hunters" they would have brought an MGB.

national
yes Andy I accept everything you say, trying to please all of the people all of the time is a none event, it's never going to happen. I've been involved with many events throughout many clubs over the years, I used to mark the field out for the Mk.1 club with Mike Jordan and one of our european members for many years. We did it for 5 or 6 years on the trot. Coobe abbey did have a rather large field though! We just turned up and got on with it! It was a great start to a great weekend sort of 3 days instead of 2, I really looked forward to it. Seeing our european member moving a stake 4" to the left or right at a distance of 100 yds. just to get the rope in a straight line had to be seen. As always if you need anything you know where I am.

Do we need an update on arrangements?
Where and when to be on the Sunday?
Can those of us arriving Saturday afternoon meet somewhere as well?
I'm a Southern softie so dont do camping, staying at Premier Travel Inn at Hinckley.
If anyone else is staying there i have found greasing the night porters palm with silver usually guarantees a parking space under the cctv cameras.

Hi Rick,Rick wrote:The foolhardy of us intend to camp on Sat, so we will be making our way on Sat afternoon, our normal meeting place is the NW area of the M25, Seedy we can stop at a service area on the motorway to meet, my suggestion of a route would be M40-A46-M69 missing the long term road works on the M1.
My mate has just told me that he has got me a ticket for the Williams F1 open day on Saturday, so it looks as though I'll now travel up on the Sunday. I'll find you guys there... Do you have a specific area you always head for?

Hi All
Our usual meeting place from the South is at Junction 17 of the M25, from there we can choose either M25, M1 or M25, M40 doesnt matter to us but if a number of people want to travel in convoy on the Saturday let me or Rick know beforehand it may make a difference to what route we take.
If you hav`nt been to Mallory before you won`t miss us, we will be the big contingent of 1960s Cortinas mainly painted White and Green as you enter the Circuit!
You will be guided to our area as a natural filter on entry, we will be on the plateau over looking the Track.
As Yet I have had no one express a wish to have a meal on the Saturday Evening at the Restaurant. If you want to join the LCR Mafia please let me know by phone, forum or email as soon as you can so I can make a block booking.
