Castle Combe Autumn Classic 2019

Post by CURLY »

Hi All
Just for your interest
I’ve received this & wondered if anyone could help them

Good Afternoon,
I organise the Autumn Classic historic race meeting and car show at Castle Combe Circuit in Wiltshire.
This year our artwork features the Lotus Cortina raced and owned by Vince Woodman in the 1960s. Our theme is 60's legends and I woudl like to invite your club and see if you can assist in finding rare race examples for on and off track display.
All help would be appreciated
Regards
Tom

Hi All
I asked for more details & this is the reply

Hi Curly,

Happy New Year and thanks for coming back to me.

It is open to all members to display with the emphasis on original race/historic cars with pedigree. It would be great to create a display of good quality examples as well. I can sort the tickets/logistics out with you once we get an idea of uptake.

The event is Saturday 5th October and the website is www.autumnclassic.co.uk

I will be at Autosport and Race Retro if you are at either of those?

Regards

Hi Curly, I am interested in attending this event with my 155 HCR as she has 'form' at Castle Combe. Back on the 23 April 1984 she ended up on her side when raced there by George Hadfield. Do you want me to contact the organizers direct or is it best done through you? Thanks, Ray.

This was a great event, like a Goodwood revival but the Aldi version, ie value for money. There were 8 events including one make races for Jaguar, Alfa's and Frazer Nash cars, and some superb racing as this was the end of season bash for most competitors. The Jordan Cortinas were out in force dicing with Mustangs, Falcons and even a very rapid (and dramatic) Studebaker Silver Hawk. Other entries in this grid of 40 cars included a Standard Vanguard Six, an MG Magnette ZA and even a Jowett Javelin, and everyone seemed to be driving at 10/10 ths. There were also over 35 owners clubs present so lots to see and admire, I recommend you put this on your 'must do' calendar for next year as Castle Combe is celebrating its 70th birthday.
