Hi All,
New to the forum but my father has just purchased a Lotus Mk2 series 1 Cortina, car has driven fine however on weekend it stuck in reverse gear, The stick wont move into 1st or 2nd gear but will select 3rd and 4th but still in reverse when these are selected. Any suggestions or process of elimination recommended? appreciate any help, apologies if this is posted in the wrong section of forum??

Re: Help - Newbie - lotus Cortina stuck in reverse
Hi Mark,
I recently had the same problem in my 3-rail tranny. I dropped the tranny, and from the top I opened up both inspection plates. You'll see the selectors and with a screwdriver, try and unstick it. At the same time, where the shift lever sits at the end of the tranny, there is a plunger. The plunger needs to be reset. Also, at the bottom of the shift lever is a round ball, there needs to be a bushing under that. If it's missing, you're gonna have to install one. I know Burton Power sells that bushing because I just bought one lol!
