Motorsport at the Palace
The LCR have been invited to attend next years event at the old Crystal Palace racetrack, which takes place on Sunday 29th May and Monday 30th May. we have previously attended this event which has a static car display plus time trials on the circuit.
Next years event is being promoted by Live Promotions whilst still being organised by the Sevenoaks & District Motor Club.
We can have space for 5 cars on each day along with two wristbands for free entry per car, additional wristbands are £12 each with children at £5.
It would be nice to have a selection of LCs on display over the two days.
Any Members interested in displaying for 1 or 2 days please PM me

Re: Motorsport at the Palace
well so far that makes three cars for one day, and one car for the other day, unless there is more interest there is no point in having a club stand.

Re: Motorsport at the Palace
Do Lotus Cortina owners know that this is the same Crystal Palace that Jim Clark raced at ??? Yes it's only part of the course ......but the famous scene from year of the cortina is Clark on this track........same bend and trees etc..... It's been a brilliant two days ever since this event started. ( and stopped and started again! ). Much better than a usual car show as there is racing to watch. For me it's the ultimate because of the Clark/ Lotus Cortina link. Cmon lads.

Rick I will try and sort some more people to attend this.......can't believe the lack lustre response ......not just for this but other shows as well. It is a superb event and usually not bad weather . Has the rising values meant that these cars will come out less and less! What a shame .......I wish they hadn't become so valuable .......I don't think it's improved the lotus cortina scene.

Re: Motorsport at the Palace
All shows ebb and flow with attendance. LCR had a stand maybe 3 years running with up to 5 cars on each day for what as you say is a superb event.
However, I for one like variety so it's not on my list to attend, at the moment. The next QB will have a list of circa 37 events many of which will have a Lotus Cortina presence but maybe not all of them.
April through to September can involve all of us choosing different shows to attend but no one can do all of them particularly with inevitable clashes.
It's the quality of LCR cars attending rather than the quantity.

Re: Motorsport at the Palace
I think another problem with the Palace is people not relishing the thought of driving through London to get to it, and back!
Brands can be bad enough involving the M25 for most people,- give me a show in the sticks with some B roads to get to it anytime!

Re: Motorsport at the Palace
London can be a bugger......definitely not as bad early Sunday though . Howard ....yes the lcr has had displays there before.......don't think so last year? But also the fact that it's a race track that was such a big part of the L/c's story.......like brands etc is important. But of course it's good to attend different events as well. Brands seems to be annually though? I didn't understand what you meant by quality.......do you mean not attending too many shows ? Ps I'm happy to go both days and whack a banner in the floor. A guy that works for me is racing on the Sunday so I'll be helping out with his car as well

Saturday? - it's on Sunday and Monday.
I've just had an email from "Live Promotions" who are taking over organising from Sevenoaks and District Motor Club.
