Woodrim Wheel Availability
I know that woodrim wheels are talked about occasionally on this forum. Genuine ones do come up for sale very rarely and obviously the seller is well and truly in the driving seat as regards price. When they do appear there are various degrees of quality.Restored, unrestored. With original boss and dummy horn push and without or with some aftermarket "make do" attached!. Also pre airflow and airflow. Bearing in mind that values are a very subjective thing does anyone have any ideas on what one should be paying for..say .. a fully restored airflow wheel with boss and dummy centre push (if one should ever become available!)
MANY ,MANY years ago I had SIX which I sold. (pre airflow and airflow) They all went to good homes so I shouldn't be too worried but what I GOT for them ?? REALLY !! I don't like to think about those carefree ,benevolent days !

Re: Woodrim Wheel Availability
I recently know of a solid aeroflow woodrim sold to a fellow member for £750, so that seems to be the going rate, but have seen them advertised on Ebay for £1000.
Len Chandler does refurb old woodrims and remanufactures SE style wheels.

Re: Woodrim Wheel Availability
So have you got a car you are restoring?
I'm sure you are not after a woodrim to hang on the wall

Re: Woodrim Wheel Availability
Too old to start restoring Pete! If only I'd kept hold of the ones I had and sold so cheaply (cars that is) The second was like NEW .Engine rebuilt at QED ,bare metal respray etc, interior beautiful, wheel and gear knob as new (kept them off the car whilst I had it ). Sold it in 1983 for £3500.I'd do anything to have it back as it was when I sold it. I expect it's condition is bloody awful now ! Sometimes I dream I've still got it. Sad eh? Oh well......
The wheel - I do have one, and loads of handbooks and brochures etc that I have got kind of make up for my "loss". To have them is quite nostalgic. It's only the same as someone who collects stamps. They stick them in a book ,in a safe , and every so often bring them out and look at them and that gives them great pleasure.
Maybe I'm wrong but it works for me.
Thank you (and everyone else) again for your interest

Re: Woodrim Wheel Availability
You say that but there are some very nice un-restored standard mk1's coming out of Norway/Finland/Sweden - so either they don't use salt or the owners never drove the cars in winter!t1ggyzak wrote:JLH 963D Steve. Hi Keith. Any reason why "I'm not authorised" to access your link?

Re: Woodrim Wheel Availability
It could be that the item is in the restricted area of the forum - basically there is an aeroflow restored wheel for sale at £1275 for sale at Beaulieu this weekend.t1ggyzak wrote:Hi Keith. Any reason why "I'm not authorised" to access your link?

Re: Woodrim Wheel Availability
Oh good. I hope someone enjoys having a go at it. It won't be me. Even with all the clues - time, place, price, description ,pics, I wouldn't know where to start looking.
