New Member Looking

Post by Meesonia »

Hi all

Joined the club the other week, I'm on the look out for a MK2 if anyone knows of one, I already have a 1976 Daytona Yellow MK2 Escort 1600 Sport, and a Royal Blue 1967 Triumph TR4A. Look forward to meeting some of you guys sometime.

Cheers

This would be a good event to meet some of us:

National Day 2015 will be on 19th July at Gaydon with the Old Ford Rally. The 1600E club are also holding their National there on the same day, plus we have Graham Robson as our Special Guest.

Welcome and whereabouts in the universe are you?

Hi sorry for delayed reply but currently on holiday in Italy with flaky internet connection, no sign of Mk2 anything so over here. My location in the UK is West Yorkshire, near Huddersfield.

As to the car I'm looking for, would prefer something drive able, so not necessarily mint, I've looked at a some recently, 1 has been strong money, but the restored condition has been very poor indeed.

There is a Dragoon Red one on at Historics at Brookland Auction this coming Satursday that looks promising, the guide price is right but it's all about who's there on the day.

Cheers

Yup, the red one has been for sale many times in the last few years. I last saw it at one of the Battlesbridge shows last year (with a for sale sign in the window!) but it seems to be with a different owner/seller now and has had some resto and a paint job inbetween times. Some careful inspecting to be done before buying this one I think

Hi all

Just watched the Historics at Brooklands Auction, the red Lotus I mentioned above is unsold, it's marked as £17000 highest bid and "passed" which I think means didn't reach reserve, the estimate was £18 to £24K, further research shows it was being sold through John Williams Classic Cars. I did some further trawling and found it had been through Coys in June 2013, but no mention of sale or price, so as someone mentioned it seems to be in a revolving door of sales.

Do any of you know anything about Lotus Outlaws? There is a White Mk2 series 2 I think, for sale privately but was restored by L O a few years ago. But top dollar wanted for it.

I get the feeling as the cars reduce in number, people think they can ask whatever they want for something far from being good, never mind mint. Or am I getting cynical in my old age? Ah well I'll keep looking for now.
Cheers
