Found in Japan

Hello all,
I've come across a (possible) Mk.1 in Fukuoka, Japan. My first thought was that it's a copy, as there is no additional bracing in the boot, however I've now been informed that as a 1966 car it wouldn't have had any anyway.
Chassis number is BA74FM59696
Andy at Lotus Cars doesn't have records for 1966 - what do you chaps think?

Is it a restoration project or ready to go? Feel free to post some photos up.
Have you been in touch with the LCR to see what the register knows of the car? Also might be worth getting with touch with Hiro on here to see if its a car he knows of.

The number looks as though it could be OK as a close one is in the USA. Check with Rick.

USA car makes sense, as it's a left hooker.

I would say a US car as they have the second plate alongside the chassis plate announcing the fact that it is English

The boot hump looks correct , and the fact that it has old sealer round it is a good sign.

Ask the seller to send you some pictures of:
- the over axle section of the rear chassis legs
- the rear axle and radius arm mounting points
- the prop
- the front suspension steering arms
- the boot hump from underneath
- where the battery cable goes through the floor
- The left side inner wing inside the engine bay (when standing infront of the car looking into the bay)

I have never seen a -60/+60 ammeter in an LC before, implying that an alternator has been fitted in place of a dynamo.
The Fahrenheit marked temperature gauge is also correct for a USA car.
