Apart from doing the Classic Ford trip to France in May i am keen to do a second trip abroad in 2013.
Someone posted on here late 2012 about a trip they did in 2012 and may repeat in 2013.
Blowed if i can find the topic posting, any ideas who, where or when?
Trip to France in September i think - who posted?

Sorry, I nearly missed this. It was me.
I've been to Angouleme several times now (last time was 2012 in my Mk 2) so if anyone is thinking of going or wanting to organise a trip then let me know and I'll let you have all I know.
My first advice is to avoid using an organised trip such as that in the link above. They are very good and use a lot of local knowledge but I believe you will feel over-organised and probably spend a lot more than you need to - I reckon you can do it as a couple for about the same as the per person price in the link above, but it depends on what you want.
Most importantly, you don't need to do it that way. It's a bit like going to York, or Edinburgh and finding motor racing on the streets. Provided you know where it is you'll find it OK. Only use an organised trip if you want a hotel in the middle of town. The better option in my opinion, is to stay out of town and drive in when you want to see some motor racing. The Saturday 'rally' is also great fun but very expensive to enter.
Here is a link to a report I wrote following my 2009 visit ...........http://www.lotusdriversclub.org.uk/?p=1033

Angouleme Circuit des Remparts
Hi, I have been 3 times to this event and booked it ourselves, we book the ferry and then through Booking.com we book our hotels and decide how far we travel each day as some of the trips do to many miles a day and we like to see France not just drive through. We always stay at the Campanele in Angouleme as there is good safe parking lots of other classic cars and close to the town centre and all the hotels in town or booked up every year. We normally spend 2 weeks away but last it was 30 days as we went to Cortina dAmpezzo for the 50th.Ron.
