"National day part 2" ?

Post by Brian c »

Is any one else a bit (alot) fed up. The national day has been and gone, weather total pants, members not wanting to spend the weekend standing in the rain staying home, and those who bravely made the effort watching the goings on through their steamy windows. Yet hey its only may we still have the whole of summer to get through. This got me thinking, perhaps we could plan another club gathering at other shows going on around the country? On a personal note i have very fond memories of coventry with the mk1 OC, great wheather, the most amount of lotus cortinas i've ever seen in one place, and people, all talking cortina.

Hi Brian - there are a few shows through out the summer that the members go to.

The Essex boys put on a stand at Battlebridge , The Uxbridge show is popular and at the National there was talk of another gathering later in the year - I'm sure Silverstone was mentioned.

I don't have dates to hand for any of these - anyone else know the dates?

The Battlesbridge show is on Sunday 19th August this year. I have booked a space for our stand & anyone wanting to show, please let me know.

NB. I will be doing a separate post for this soon.

I think you should all be congratulated in turning out last weekend. The weather was to say the least miserable and yet you still had a good turn out.

We (the mk2 owners club) have been invited and will be attending the mk1 oc National at Stratford racecourse (28/29 July). This is an anniversary year for them and apart from Cortina's the Corsair club is also attending.

I spoke to a mk1 Committee Member last night, i am sure they would also welcome the LCR attending, let me know if you want me to ask.

Should be a good weekend, although the main day will be Sunday, and with a reasonably central location may be an opportunity to meet up. Not much else to do apart from talk cars all weekend!

Hello, I was just reading through the messages and I saw somebody suggesting that they would 'ask' about turning up to the MK1 Cortina O.C. day at Stratford racecourse (July 28th & 29th); the simple answer is that you don't need to ask if you want to turn up, if you fancy a day out or a weekend drinking (Scott S) , there's a live band playing, a disco, BBQ, pop quiz etc.....just turn up you don't need to ask!
Quite honestly everyone is welcome MK1 or MK2; the Corsair & Crayford clubs are holding their national rally with us and so the show will be well attended, you can just turn up at the gate.

The Mk 1 O/C national weekend looks set to be a fantastic event and loads of LCR members look set to turn up. I shall be there with AJT and I shall be drinking. A fair bit! If Derrick Penson is going, then I shall be drinking a lot! A stop off at the Hook Norton brewery is in order once more.
Having spoken to Steve Kerr (who also encourages heavy binge drinking!) at Symonds Yat, he's very keen to see every LCR member and their cars at this show.
Who are we to dissapoint!
It should be mentioned that all MK1 Cortinas will get in free. Unfortunately, that means you guys with Mk 2's will have to fork out a couple of quid at the gate ( I think it's a fiver), but it's well worth it.
I hope to see everyone there, especially the LCR comittee!

Well talk about an indian summer, better than july and aug, so who's doing MK1 oc meet 22/23 sept? Still running the car in, so a bit worried about the long journey. Love to go in numbers, but i'm limited to 55 mph.
