Hi all, Just been on the phone to our events man and he has confirmed that the 2008 National Day venue will return to Mallory Park race Circuit. This years date will be Sunday 26th of October 2008.
There will be a full race programme on the day (last race at 6pm), as it will the last round in the 'Top Hat' and 'Masters' race series, which you may or may not know is saloon from the 50's 60's and some 70's cars racing. These of course include Lotus Cortina's, Mini's, Jags, Alfa Romeo, Mustangs, Galaxie's amoungst others. The masters include such giants as Ford GT40 and similar..This series races at The Goodwood Revival, and many other venues across the UK and Europe. Those of you in the UK may have seen on Satellite/Cable TV a show called GT racer which looks into this race series cars and drivers every week. I believe its on a channel called 'Dave' which is on channel 111 on SKY. This is exactly whats going to be on the day. I personally saw them at Goodwood last year and they were an awesome sight, very fast and very close racing..
Camping will be available on the Saturday night.
More details to follow later.. :D

Really looking forward to this...
Shows are always better when accompanied by the smell of hot brakes and sound a LTC screaming down the straight.

Being a Southern softie i dont do camping, so i've booked in at the Premier Travel Inn Hinckley (£49.00) which is only 5 miles away. If there are enough of us staying here we could split the cost of a nighttime security guard perhaps?

Andy in Spain - October is your off season and Mallory Park is only 20 minutes from East Midlands Airport. Fancy coming over?

I don't even know why I bother bringing a tent to the National?
Cheers

P.S Anyone up for a meal in the Coach-House? night before? (excellent classic racing themed pub on site, front door accidentially locks punters inside  )

Yea your right H,a better time for me,to early to sort out the flights but will sort the room today.
From Spain to a tent in England at the end of October, all in one day could be to much of a shock to the system.

If i could get a good fare i might make a visit. Is there someone that would be interested in babysitting a Kiwi LC nut for a few days?

It would be great to see you Mark.
I'm pretty sure between us we could sort out a 'entertaining' schedule for you.

in all seriousness I'm sure we can sort you out with a LC co-driving role to the National etc. I'll keep a eye out for any other petrolhead type events that week.
