Attempting to Track Down History on Race Car

I've recently acquired an aero-flow A-frame race car in the USA. I have history and log books showing that the car was restored by Ron Goldsack of Comstock Racing and raced by him in some historic events in Canada during the early 90s. Supposedly the car was imported from the UK to the US in the 60s and raced throughout the US Southeast. I'm trying find details about that history. Here is a photo of Ron Goldsack running it at Mosport in 1992 
It has UK Reg plate KPU543C but I think that was just added for fun by a previous owner and isn't original to the car. Being a race car in the US, it never was titled here and probably never used the original UK reg.
Is anyone familiar with this car and can shed some light on its history prior to 1990?
