Re: NATIONAL DAY 2024
Big thanks to Rick & Andy for organising today
Nice to see everyone and catch up
Getting to chat with Bob was great
Also very nice of Mr Chapman to come out and have a natter
Great couple of days and well worth the 100 mile journey each way lol

Re: NATIONAL DAY 2024
In answer to your question,
We arranged to get a food wagon on site as in a "burger van" but when we approached them we could only find one that was suitable within a relative distance to Hethel,
We wanted some sort of breakfast menu for the early arrivals and could also do a lunchtime menu!
However on Thursday we were let down and at that stage it was too late to organize anything else!
We had a quick conversation between the committee and found a Pizza Parlour close by that would deliver to CTL.
By doing this depending on attendance on the day we could purchase as many as required these were to be purchased with compliments of the LCR.
We could then hopefully cover everyone's taste as we then had the vegetarian option as well as traditional food which was an issue with the burger vans!
Incidentally just in case anyone is interested the cost of the vans pretty much were on 2 tariffs as some required a "one off" hire payment of circa £2,500 or depending on sales an initial £1500 up front then minus the cost of sales up to £2,500 so they needed £1000 worth of sales otherwise the LCR would be liable for the balance If this wasn't reached!
As you may or may not know we had to supply our own toilets as we were not allowed to use CTL's own as the premises were closed and only open during the tour. This was initially a problem as the hired toilet bloc were electric flush and of course needed power for lighting etc so we needed a generator.
The club generator was stolen by a club member(yes club member) many years ago and never replaced!!!
I could not get my own personal generator to work despite stripping and cleaning everything as it hadn't been used since the Sunday of the British Grand Prix in 1992! Rob Ford stepped in that week and offered us his which he brought up!
Fortunately Wayne the CTL Fiberglass body repairer was contracted to do overtime for the whole weekend to get a bonnet finished and painted for a wealthy customer, was on site and offered us the use of his 240v supply from within his container workshop!
Cost of toilets one day hire £714inc Vat then an extra payment of £90+Vat for special delivery on Saturday for drivers O/T
So like all organized events not as straight forward or as cheap as people think!!
Regards
Andy

Re: NATIONAL DAY 2024
What a tale of disasters.
I can certainly understand the reluctance of any vendor to pitch up with his van & stock to sell a few burgers or hotdogs, as the cost outweighs the profit with the numbers attending. I only saw the initial announcement so didn't provide for us. Luckily Tony found a source of sandwiches about 30 minutes away.
Deliveroo is the way forward.

Re: NATIONAL DAY 2024
Well , Well ,Well just has i suspected Rick. I have been told by a little bird that it was one big flop and not even a flip just a flop. 14 cars of which a handful of those were even trailered and not driven and even the hot dog man refused to turn up ! . When i tried to advise a better venue you shot me down Rick in a hail of bullets . Its always your way and no other way and i think you owe me an apology as it was put on in no mans land . The best thing was Rick after all that you didn't even turn up there yourself " Shocking " .
P.S went to cortina day symonds yat 100 plus cars and loads of friendly faces and plenty to eat .
Regards
Chris

Re: NATIONAL DAY 2024
Chris
Was your little bird at the same event as me
I enjoyed the whole weekend, always good to catch up with fellow Lotus enthusiast
Also great to talk to the Lotus staff
Yes my car was on a truck ( Good job actually as I had problems with it on Sunday ) Wayne & Keith were also on Trailor's but why is that an issue ?
I thought 15 cars attending was a good result ?
We managed to fill up the area we were allocated
Out of interest were there many Lotus Cortinas at Symond’s Yat ?
All the best
Rob

Re: NATIONAL DAY 2024
Forgot to say it was great to see 25,26,27 VUR cars all parked next to each other. When was the last time they were together like that ?

Re: NATIONAL DAY 2024
Owe you an apology, it will be a cold day in hell before you get that, Glad you had a good day at Symonds Yat, as you are taking personal attacks on me you seem to forget that the LCR are made up of a committee, the committee sanctioned the venue. those that went and went on the CTL tour which was subsidised by the LCR, really enjoy it, Did you get to chat with Bob Dance, Jim Clarks race engineer, or meet and chat with Clive Chapman, Colin Chapmans son and CEO of CTL, no you didn't. as with all functions there is always a bit of hit and miss. you missed a good day "Shocking"Lotus Outlaws wrote: ↑Wed 12th Jun 2024 9:13 pm Well , Well ,Well just has i suspected Rick. Re: NATIONAL DAY 2024
yes rob he was at the same event as you and if you think 15 cars is a good turn out fair play to you i call it a flop nothing wrong with trailering cars you obviously did not want the 5 hour round trip in a lotus cortina and im sure mr dance and mr chapman would have prefferd to chat a bigger crowd rick you say it is down to the commitee how many comitee members are there maybe you should listen to other peoples ideas maybe its time for a different commitee with some new ideas to get this club geed up again it seems to me that as long as the usual suspects are happy in ther own little bubble then thats good enough
