Hi, does anyone know if the Lotus Cortina was originally fitted with alloy hubcaps as opposed to the normal chromed ones? Thanks

No the early ones were steel chromed.

Were they an option or were they fitted to some other Ford? I ask as I have one such hubcap whilst the others are all steel and wondered if it may have been an original fitment

Hello Manni,

Later Transit Vans from the 70's/80's were fitted with Ali Hubcaps!

The same hubcaps were fitted to lots of models through that era as standard.

100E, Anglia, Cortina Mk1 & Mk2, Escort Mk1 & Mk2 Capri Mk1, Transits, Corsair, Zephyr, Zodiac,

Keith,

Not Aluminium ones they weren't!!

The Transit was the only vehicle of those you have mentioned that was still in production and the series 1 was still made until 1973/74 with the basic model having 13inch wheels. Twin wheel Transits had 14 inch.

Series 2 Transits had 14 and 15inch wheels.

No I know Andy - the question is about ally ones but there are only two types as far as I know - heavy chrome steel & the much lighter stainless types. I'm assuming the author is talking about the latter.
