Newbie in Essex

Post by Gunscrossed »

Hi,
I retire at the end of the month and will be looking to treat myself to a classic car.
I've always liked the Lotus Cortina but know very little about them. I saw a couple of lovely examples this summer at classic car shows in Essex!
I gather purchase can be a bit of a minefield, as with any classic car, but if anyone can offer me any help or advice that would be most appreciated!
Many thanks,
Pete 8)

Hi
Plenty of owners in the Essex area always willing to chat about their cars, whereabouts are you?
If you see a car you might fancy get as much ID info you can and send it to Rick to check authenticity,- there are a lot of lookalikes and replicas out there!
Become a full member first, then you can keep an eye on the 'for sale' section.

Thanks, I'll sign up!
I live just outside Clacton on Sea.
I've seen a couple of cars advertised, a red one on eBay and this, http://www.classicandracecars.co.uk/cor ... s-mk2.html
Although to be honest I don't really know what I'm looking at :D

There are a few people around you locally who would probably offer advice but as Pete said first step is to join up & take advantage of the club's wealth of experience & verification process before splashing the cash.

Hi Pete,
Welcome to the forum,
As suggested getting any classic car inspected is always a good idea.
Are you thinking about using the car for motorsport at all?
Cheers

Cheers guys, I've completed the form and paid by Paypal.
The car will just be used locally but I don't mind if it's ex-motorsport or standard spec to be honest.

Evening all.

New to the site, my mk1 has been sat in the garage since I moved from London to Essex 43 years ago. I’d like some one to confirm it’s genuine so I can get the V5, get it restored back to it’s former glory.

Thanks in advance Dave Sellers.
