MK2 Lotus Cortina in Bracknell around 1980

Post by Mark1YKK »

Bit of a long shot this one, but significant to me anyway.
A car that was responsible for my ressurected my infant interest in Lotus Cortina's was around in Bracknell, Berkshire from 1979-83. It was a 'F' plate series 1 MK2 fitted with Dunlop alloys and was (dare I say it) jacked up at the rear.. Im sure I had a picture of it, but cannot find it now. It was in a bit of a state even back then, and the owner at that time showed me and my mates round it several times when I used to ask him about it, when I walked past it on my way home from school. It had a webasto sunroof. He often used to blast it up our road, and I remember it being very low geared, and very rapid. He could light up the rear tyres in 2nd gear in the dry ! I often saw it blasting around the area, but the owner moved some time after, and I never saw it again, but when I got to 17 years old I set about trying to find a good L/C of my own, but the insurance costs were more than the car, so I gave up.
Until I was about 26 that is
