Just received this request from Classic and Sports Car magazine, can anyone help? if so please let me know
I was wondering if you could help me source a Mk1 Lotus Cortina for a photoshoot, please?

We’re hoping to do it either the week commencing 1 October, or the week commencing 8 October – and hopefully in the Goodwood area.

It would need to a standard road car, as tidy as possible, and running on steel wheels. I know – beggars can’t be choosers...

If you know of an owner who could get down to Goodwood and who would be willing to help out, it’d be great to hear from you.

Hi Rick

You can put HXD's name on the list of candidates.

On a personal note while I have your attention. Car failure prevented me from getting to Windsor last night but I had the starter motor in the boot that we spoke about at Brands. Let me know if you still need to try it & I'll get it over to you.

NAR and me are available too if required. Maybe a two-car shoot?

A standard car AND a special equipment car together. Could they be so lucky? What do you think Rick. Can you sell it to them?

If you can't sell the idea of a two-car shoot to the Classic & Sportscar rep Rick, please give Dave priority as he has had his car a lot longer than I have!!

No no no. Maybe best we let the mag decide.

Just a thought, what about offering to throw in a couple of Cortina babes?

Hi Guys, I have forwarded both your details on to the Mag, hopefully they should contact you direct either via Email or Phone, I did make the suggestion of a two car article, lets see what they come back with.

Thank's Rick. Just received email from James at Classic & Sportscar so HXD could at last be immortalised. He's waiting for a response from a second car, hope it's Grahams.

I've not heard anything from Classic and Sports Car yet so it looks like it's HXD's turn to shine so better get that polish out Dave - and get your hair cut! If you have not done anything like this before, I found that it's a good idea to write down the main points and highlights in HXD's history before you go to the shoot, and take along any photos, documents and trophys you may have. The journalist will probably use these to pick out a theme and base his story on. You must have loads of stuff about your hill-climbing experiences and 40+ years of ownership? It'll be a good read. Good luck Dave and let us all know how you get on.

Hi Graham. Yes, HXD has had the nod. Thank's for the good wishes & advice. Not sure about the haircut though. Thinking of adding a droopy moustache as I had one when I bought the car, what do you think?

There is a second car but it seems that it's a marque that is also celebrating it's 50th next year. What might that be?

It's all happening this Saturday so looking forward to it. Deputy editor James Page tells me he has a very soft spot for the Lotus Cortina so fingers crossed for some good publicity! He also tells me he's aware of your car so you're obviously on his 'hit list'.

If James is agreeable I'll see if I can take some photographs (or snaps as we called them in the day) &, once the feature has been published, (& if I can make it interesting enough), do a bit for the QB.

Hopefully will see you (& the others) at the Five Bells on Thursday?

Dont be shy in asking them for a CD of all the photos they take on the day. It's not usually a problem although they will of course have the copyright of all the material. Hope to see you on Thursday at The Five Bells
