PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATE FROM 25 SEPTEMBER TO 28 OCTOBER.

We’ll meet between 10.00am and 12.00 at the Five Bells public house for the excellent monthly breakfast meeting that Robin (the landlord) and his Son, Ken lays on for like-minded petrol heads.

At 12 o'clock we'll set off in convoy for a run and pose through some Sussex villages and countryside. We’ll probably cover about 25 miles or so. I'll prepare a route map and will hand these out to those who turn up on the day. We have permission to park-up for a lunch break in the Brewery Yard at Harveys Brewery slap-bang in the centre of Lewes. Refreshments and/or lunch can be bought in the John Harvey Tavern opposite the brewery!

The Five Bells is on the A275 about 5 miles north of Lewes, post code BN8 4DA: pub telephone number 01825 722259.

There's no need to book, but to enable me to advise the landlord of likely numbers and print sufficient route maps, please let me know ASAP either through the forum, email tinagra@sky.com or text via my mobile 07765 130580 if you plan to attend. More info will be in the next QB, but please make a note of the date in your diary NOW!

For this year's Sussex Day on 28 October, why don't we try to beat the record of 14 Lotus Cortinas driving in convoy? There are at least 10 LCs in Sussex - add to this potential visitors from Kent, Surrey and Hampshire, Essex and other nearby counties, France, Sweden, Germany, Japan or Australia and even beyond (the Moon, Mars, La La and Cuckoo land for instance), we could do it!! Bring the family - make a day of it. If there is a good response, I'll even let the local press and TV company know what we're up to! This picture was taken just off the M4 on our way to Ashton Court near Bristol in (I think) 1987. Mike Winstock will no doubt tell us all if I'm wrong!

Graham....you old cynic....would I point out errors if they occur?
I think you're absolutely right....the 2nd National Day at Ashton Court was on May 24th 1987 and I'm sure the photo was taken en route that day.
Happy memories!

Just to prove the Sussex branch of the LCR are not a bunch of southern shandy drinking nancy boys Graham has advised this event will go ahead come rain or shine!

See you there Graham. I'm sure it will the first and last time my family venture out in the Cortina 8)

It's my daughters 16th birthday that weekend, so have been doing all the household chores, smiling sweetly at both mother & daughter and got totally rumbled!
It looks like a no-go at the moment, as I can't get my little un to change her birthday and she wants me as the taxi driver all day!!
I'll be there in spirit.

Just a few more days to go until 2012's Sussex Day and the current forecast for next Sunday is for a cold and bright day - fingers crossed! I have finalised the route passing through some lovely parts of East and West Sussex - and it's around 25 miles. I have had confirmation of attendance from a few local members but right now I have no idea at all of final numbers - I guess it's a case of just seeing who turns up on the day? The more, the merrier!

How did the panoramic photo turn out ?.Pass on my apologies for not putting the trailers back where we found them.
