National Day update - Lotus Festival 18th/19th Aug 2012

Heres some excellent news on developments with the National Day. This article has also been published in the latest QB
An opportunity has arisen to hold this years event at the Lotus Festival on the weekend of 18th/19th August. The Festival has been held at Snetterton for the last few years but this year the venue is switching to Brands Hatch.
In the absence of any other suitable venues, the club has decided to hold this years National Day on the 19th August at the Lotus Festival. Apart from the non-central location, Brands is obviously an excellent venue and as most other Lotus Clubs will be in attendance, our appearance at this event should help to further raise the profile of the club in advance of next years 50th Anniversary.
The really good news is that the club has been able to secure FREE entry for the driver and up to one passenger for all vehicles on the club stand (for the whole weekend). Camping is also FREE providing the club use the main campsite which is about 5 minutes walk from the showers/toilets etc. An alternative campsite is available closer to the facilities but there is a charge for using this site. The organiser has recommended that we use the main campsite as this is the site used for all other major events.
For anyone who might want a drink, you will be well catered for as there is a bar (and restaurant) that will be open on the Saturday evening until 23.00hrs, possibly later. I am informed that there is a further bar and restaurant in the hotel near the campsite and other restaurants/takeaways in the village next to Brands. As an added attraction, there will be at least two bands playing on the site on the Saturday evening.
The organiser has said that he will allocate space for a club stand along Colin Chapman Way for a guaranteed 25 vehicles. If demand is high, it might be possible to create additional space on the club stand nearer the time or additional cars could be accommodated in the general Lotus car park.
As well as an attendance plaque and trophies for the best cars on display, all entrants will receive an 8x 6 mounted photograph of their car (this will be posted out to your home address after the event). Just for a bit of fun, I will also consider testing your motoring related knowledge by running a quiz early on the Saturday evening, but only if there is enough interest so please let me know what you think about this.
This is sure to be a popular event so if you are interested, please contact me by email at simon954@hotmail.co.uk or send me a PM via the club forum. Alternatively, my home number is 01603 300898. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis for an initial 25 cars. As numbers are limited, we need to do all we can to fill the club stand so there is an expectation that anyone who expresses an interest will attend the event. If you have stated your interest and for any reason you can not attend, please let me know as soon as possible so that the tickets can be reallocated to another member.
In the event that there are more applications than spaces, names will go on a reserve list and I will speak to the organiser to see if everyone can be accommodated. When contacting me please provide full name, address, telephone number and registration number (you are assured that no personal details will be disclosed to a third party).
