I saw this car race at Catalina Park, Katoomba N.S.W. in or around 1968
it was maroon in colour and was running the Lotus steels that were chromed and I thought at the time how good it looked. He was beaten that day by Bob Morris in a Toyota Corolla.
I have the race programme for that meeting somewhere, when I find it I will post the entry list.
In the meantime I will speak to Leo Geoghegan, he may be able to shed some light on its whereabouts.

I've found the race programme where Dave Missingham's
car was listed in the field of entrants at Catalina Park
Can someone advise me how to post it please

Hi, If you have'nt got access to a scanner, you could try photographing it in a well lit room and posting it up on here or emailing to me.
Cheers

if this car is still around , could it be the oldest surviving racing Lotus Cortina , reported to be a 63 Aframe.

I've spoken to Leo Geoghegan and he doesn't remember that
particular Lotus Cortina but has given me some contacts that may know and I'm following them up.

What a great post this one is. I cant remember this car but I do remember Leo's car from those days. Shame we don't have Catalina anymore. They used to take us from school at Wentworh Falls on a Sunday afternoon to watch a bit at Catalina and we used to sit out the front of the school on other days and watch the trailers go past on race weeks.
No photos..............

(mis-)spent a lot of my youth at Catalina Park watching this sort of action. The circuit's still there, though in a derelict state. Walked it recently. Very dangerous circuit, saw some very bad accidents there, drivers in trouble had two choices, the cliff face on outside or over the precipice on inside.

I was called upon to recount a story of a friend of mine who raced at Catalina in a super kart. He hit the wall big time at Craven A corner. So hard his shoes came of......and they were never found!

There were a few Lotus Cortinas that met there fate there aswell.
Like this one that was rolled by Pete Geoghean
& this one in which the driver was killed
Its ashame that the track will never be preserved & will be just left to rot. Because there wouldnt be many tracks left with the wooden sleeper fences in tact with some or the signwriting still visible. this was taken a couple of years back when we went there.

I look at that race programme and realise how far we've come.
Most of those 'saloon' cars, as they were called in Australia
at that time were driven to the the track, reg. plates removed, in some cases not, and happily raced all day and then driven home.
