Any idea where this car is. Owned by my father from virtually new in 1965 (8 months old and used as a dealer demonstrator) until 1982 and covered 110k miles as our family/shopping car! An unusual car as it was an early airflow model but had A frame/coilover rear suspension but all panels were steel. Split propshaft with centre bearing and boot strengthening struts. I guess right at the change over from the earliest cars. After several axle casings my father converted it to the later leaf spring type. I remember the original suspension components sitting in the corner of the garage for ages until they went to the local dump in about 1975....It had 2 engine rebuilds, the first at 50k and the other at about 100k after an accidental over-rev. I took my driving test in it in about 1977.
Any info? I suspect it may have been exported, although last time I looked at DVLA the registration was still allocated to it.

Hi Malcolm,
I'm suprised that nobody has responded to your enquiries.
Your fathers car certainly shows up on an early club register I have
for our vehicles. But that only means that it was/is known to the club.
It could have been your father who provided the information, when he owned it. The register has been going since 1979, so many cars on it,
could have been scrapped, written off, or more likely, exported.
From the limited info I have, it shows the car was in Surrey in the 80's.
My guess is, that if a Mk1 was still around by the mid 80's, then it probably
is still around somewhere.
Don't give up!

Hi Scott
Yes I registered it with the LCR in the late 1970's. We were living in Surrey at that time through until after we sold it around 1982. By then it was pretty tatty and it was sold to a local garage owner for his own use (exchanged for a Ford escort estate plus a new exhaust system for my father's Mk 1 3litre Capri - now that is another story!!).

Hi Malcolm,
Now you have a trail to follow!
Dig around and see whether you can find the
whereabouts of that garage owner today.
Then, if you find him, offer him a deal against a Focus Estate and
a new exhaust system for whatever he's driving daily!!
You never know, it might just turn up in the same hands, as
people in the motor trade are notorious hoarders.
Good luck
Scott

Trail cold in Japan and nothing here in the UK or Australia. DVLA still shows it as last taxed in 1984. Scrapped or rusting away in a shed.
Edited to add:
Chassis number BA74ER59354 (1965 Jun made)
Engine number:LP3791

Thanks Rick. The reg was def KKX 717C and we were LCR members in late 70 early 80s in Reigate Surrey. Maybe be a typo on the LCR records?

Update. Unconfirmed, but information I obtained it seems after we sold it in the early 1980s was used in rallies and badly damaged, so probably scrapped or broken for spares.
