Hi All!
Pleased to annonce the LCR National day 07 will be held at the new cortina event at Billing Aquadrome near Northampton on the 12/13th of May.
Camping is available and I also think there is a hotel very close.
The show is already looking like a good one, with lots of other cortina clubs planning on attending. The autojumble is also looking very busy.
10 quid per car entrance
15 quid if camping.
Cheers
Louis

Hi
Can anyone tell me what the security is like at Billing as I have heard from other people that there has been some vandelism to there cars when they were on display.
Cheers

I took the Lotus to Billing last June - stayed in local Premier Travel Inn - paid doorman who was on duty all night a retainer to let me park in disabled bay so he could keep an eye on the car all night!

camped at billing the day before ford fair, the campsite was huge and tbh I wouldnt go there again, its great fun in the evening but kids etc were tearing around till very early hours on all sorts, scooters etc.
I had just finished my 15 year resto and i was not amused at all.
Lots of holiday people there who didnt appreciate an old Ford.
I hope it was just a one off, and you have a great evening.
sorry to put a downer on what is the pinacle for your marque and its only my opinion

Is this meet just park and view, and camping with a shotgun !
and no track time, because there,s no track ?
Or is it better to go to the cortina meet later in june, with track
time.
Never been to lcc national or any other meet come to think
of it and coming over from holland.
so be gentle with me.
nearly forgot, which way to the bar ?
Hopefully will see you there.

Hi All,
The committee have also heard stories and were contemplating hiring a security firm to oversee our area. We contacted Billing about this and they informed us they have their own security patrols all night and they explained that an incident did occur 3 years ago when some food was stolen from a BBQ and some auto jumble was ransacked from a stall but was soon recovered, thats why they have since employed a proffessional security firm and they have had not had any recurrance.

I must admit I know very little about this event, what with it being a new event and us going there to have 'our' National day at 'someone else's' event, rather than us organising the whole thing.
Anyone know the organisers (or there email address) to invite them on here to talk more about the event?

Wearing my hat as Chairman of Mk2 owners club - the idea of this event was put forward by the 1600E club. Primarily for the reason that clubs can no longer sell spares at The Cortina Day at Symmonds Yat. I'm not going to get involved in the politics of who now runs the Symmonds Yat event, but i will be attending both.
Anyway, The Cortina Show at Billing has the support of all the main Cortina clubs, mk1, mk2, 1600E etc etc.
It is intended to be an informal event, club spares will be available (to Members). There is no formality to it, cars may be mixed and all types of Cortina are welcome from standard to modified.
You can spend one or two days viewing and talking Cortina's. Billing has other attractions but The Cortina Show arena is just that for Cortina's, so there is no other "entertainment".
I think it promises to be a really good weekend. No Lotus for me i'm afraid, i'm Transit driving with the mk2oc spares.

More information available on the
www.buysellcortina.co.uk website.
In the above i should have mentioned that mk1 to mk5 Cortina's will be attending.

I've copied this from the Town & Country section (where the conversation originated), as it relates to the National Day
Hi Louis. You sure will because if I'm not mistaken, Scott and I are the only ones to have attended every National Day - and there's not a hope in hell that I'm going to give up the championship to that glophead, no matter how luvly he is!
We'll be camping unless the weather's really bad so looking forward to a night on the Pernod. I still have hysterics when I think about the last time we were there as a club and I'm certain I won't be disappointed this time...
I'm currently trying to find out about pubs with decent ale in the vicinity and taxis should they be needed. Of course we'll also be taking some supplies just in case!
Having read the comments on security at Billing I'd just like to put in my two-penneth worth - we may all be individual car clubs, but gossip travels fast within the fraternity and as we all know, the 1600E crowd are pretty fanatical when it comes to their cars. I honestly think there's absolutely no way they'd be using the venue again if there was a problem so come on guys, get Lotus out of the cotton wool or take an extra tent to put her in...(which begs the question, do you treat the ladies in your life with as much care? - dare you to show that to your wife/girlfriend!)
Can't wait to see everyone. Kryss x
