GMX 388B, HAX 2D, 571 TEA , PPU 820D ,DBX 10C ,ARF 170D,
I have been lent this book on the history of rallying on Epynt and may be of interest to anyone who has any of the above regs taken from the pics in the book. May be a real one or two

During my research on my own car (455YWC),the chap who owned it said he also had owned PPU800D, an ex ford car. It had an extremely spindly roll cage fitted and a halda twin clock.

Since I had nothing to do on a cold wet Sunday, I decided that the LCR forum would be good place to spend the afternoon in front of the fire and came across this old post which I can add a little history to. HAX 2D belonged to Malcolm Gibbs from Tredegar, South Wales. Gibbs Brothers was the main Ford dealer in the area and although the car was painted red, I am sure it would have been the genuine article. However, ARF 170D is a very different matter. This car belonged to a good friend of mine, the late Frank Pierson, who was a very quick driver and excellent engine builder. His engine preparation business traded under the name of Pierstune and was well known in the Motoring News and Welsh Stage Rally championship circles. ARF 170D was originally a 1966 four door Cortina GT bought new by Frank and campaigned with great success with its 1500,and later then 1650 pushrod engine. In 1969, a Lotus Twin Cam was transplanted and the successes continued. Later that year, a two door GT bodyshell was purchased from J.C. Withers of Winsford and ARF 170D morphed into a proper looking Lotus Cortina, and this is the car shown in the Eppynt book and also the Nineteen to the Dozen book about the 1969 Motoring News Championship. Frank used the car to rally at weekends but during the week was used by his wife for shopping and himself for general garage duties including attending breakdowns. It was on one of the latter duties that ARF 170D burst into flames as a result of a carburetor fire and ended up a write off. The old mechanics from ARF 170D ended up in Franks 'new' rally car, a repaired Escort GT shell that became equally famous under the registration number TNT 242J, but that's another story.
