What ever happened to this car than Martin Paynter brought on a trailer to Coombe Abbey mk1 owners club day in about 2000. I know he sold all his lotus cortina stuff when he started his escort business, but did it ever get restored and if so are there any pictures, so we can see a before and after.

Tommy is that the mk2 next to it that had a massive side impact ? looked like it hit a telegraph pole. Just after being restored i think.

Sorry Brian I can't remember if the mk2 was bent or not but looking at the photo the passenger side B post seems to be sloping the wrong way. Before and after on that would be good too.

I recall this car had a see through boot floor & housebricks holding up the rear suspension.
Was it ERD 222C or D ??

It was an eary pre aeroflow car and it had no number plates, so I expect it had a pre suffix reg, or maybe an A or B plate. I suppose it could have hung around a while and been registered on a 1965 C plate like Steves car. From what I remember it had been fitted witha mk2 rear axle and springs, although all the correct A frame mounts were intact. The flared front arches were a real low quality job, but I think the body was reasonably solid.

Hi guys,
I tracked the red mk 2 down a year or two ago, at the time it was in Norway and the owner was willing to sell it to me, but it was way over priced. I could have gotten a complete car in the UK for the same price. It had no engine, gearbox or interior and was still damaged and rusty.

The mk2 was mechanically complete when it was at Coombe Abbey so it must have been robbed since Matthew. You can see the engine in place in the photo.

I bought all the cars/parts that Martyn had collected for many years. It took two car transporters and a lorry to collect all the cars and parts.
The shell taken to Coombe Abbey was restored and painted. The car now is with a new owner in York. The two other cars where restored, one is in Exmouth the other in Bromsgrove.I still have boxes of parts not used on the restorations.
