Welcome Aiden.

To expand on the above - Aiden is based in Southern Ireland. He has been offered the above car and is trying to check it's history.

Is there anything in particular he should be looking for to make sure it's genuine?

thanks.

Have gone to see the car and it seems genuine. The UK V5 and engine number check out with what the DVLA records indicate...

I gathered the following checks on bsc, here and lotus site and checked the them on the car...

1) Battery in boot, no sign of cuts, welding on inner wing. There might be a old neg earth sticker on inner wing in boot

2) 3020e sometimes just stamped in a ground off area pass side of block,
L stamped in between drivers side engine mount. engine no: 681F-6015-GA

3) High top rad

4) Black door tops

5) 140mph speedo and 8k rev counter

6) starter solenoid on fire wall (plenum chamber)

7) split prop with tubular mount

8) anti tramp/radius arm at rear

9) brake calipers on front of rotor

10) strut top strenghteners fitted

11) captive nuts on bracket for servo

12) banjo on clutch salve cylinder (looks knackered !)

Had a second look at the car yesterday and decided to walk away....

Although it seemed a genuine car to me, it needed quite a bit of work underneath and a repaint and probably engine work ....

ah well...

photo album here...(clicky)

its definately worth saving...but my pockets aren't that deep (or maybe my arms are too short !)

Seller wanted 6900 euro (about 5500stg)

it probably needs a engine rebuild, jacking points front and rear, chassis cross member around front seats, bottoms of door bubbling, scuttle panel on driver side is bubbling and out of alignment with wing...

the car is about 30 miles outside Dublin ....

sounds a bit steep if it's needing all that work.
