I don't know what time we are supposed to arrive at Brands - any time between 9 and 10am I guess. I think arriving at the gate at around 9.30 should ensure we miss the long queue to get in. So aiming to leave Clacket by 09.00 seems like a good idea. Don't forget I'm still running a two bladed cooling fan and it might be a hot day!!
REMINDER RICK - can you bring me a spare copy of the last QB if you have any please?
So 8.30 leave at 9 at Clacket Lane Services, I will have some spare QBs for you Graham, re overheating, try getting out of third gear now and again, and get over 45mph on the motorway
A two-bladed fan works fine when driving a Lotus Cortina as it was designed to be driven. Overheating only occures when I am following you in your car Rick, due to the lack of fresh air passing through my radiator - I only get the smoke from your exhaust, same goes for not being able to get out of third gear and being limited to just 45mph on motorways! Following you is simply a nightmare, but I'll do anything for an old mate - well almost anything!!
Oh dear, oh dear and bugger! I've just seen on the news that a lorry carrying a digger has collided with a footbridge on the M20 which has subsequently collapsed onto the motorway! The motorway is currently closed between junctions 3 & 4 ((typical British Bank Holiday incident)!! I wonder how this might affect our plans to meet at Clacket Services and onward travel to Brands Hatch tomorrow morning?i I have heard a rumour that Michael Winstock had something to do with it!!
M20 and M26 closed.
M20 not expected to open up until tomorrow earliest.
When M20 closes everything is sent down A20 which the hatch sits on.
Epect the worse and hope for the best!!

Had a great day at Brands today .......Don in his "VUR" mk1 , Malcolm in his lovely blue mink mk2 and me in my USA mk1. Don and I talked L/C most of the day and met some interesting people with some great stories .......including Team Lotus ones ! Great Weather and Lotus Cortinas.......Heaven . Cheers Steve (ps......thanks for the endless supply of tea and cakes Moragg ! )
I've just read the latest position (at 06.35) on Sky News with regard to the bridge collapse on the motorway and resulting road chaos predicted for all the roads around the Brands Hatch area, and have decided to give it a miss. So very disappointed but hey, it's England! At least it's not raining - yet! I hope those who do make it through have a great day, Graham(139)
