pm me if you would like some particular ones!

I'll have them Pete as I have a load of photocopied ones in my collection & could replace them with yours.

Keith: As the new QB editor, I expect you are keen/desparate to have material to go into the next edition.
Just a suggestion.....why don't you re-print some of the many articles from earlier issues.
Many readers will not have seen them before and those of us who have will surely not mind re-reading them.
On the present theme, why not an article on previous National Days?

Vuja-de......

You must be psychic you two here is an extract from the impending Autumn 2018 edition intro by me :-

"I am lucky enough to be in possession of the complete archive of the QB since inception in the early 80’s so I have been trawling through the pages picking out articles which have probably never been seen by most members & I’ll recycle them for future magazines as there’s a wealth of experience tucked away in there."

Watch that doormat....

Found the Spring 99 copy of Quarterbumper and it gives the 1999 national dates as 25/26th July

Keith....could it be that great minds think alike?
Your first issue of QB as editor will be the 140th since Phil Baskerville edited the first LCR Magazine in 1981 (it did not become "Quarter Bumper" until issue no.6 in January 1982)
You are joining a long line of illustrious editors and I wish you well.

2016 Hatton Country World 19 June
2017 Stratford on Avon Racecourse 5/6 August
2018 Brooklands Double 12 16/17 June

Only a few dates still to be filled in now Steve.
As I doubted 1998 and 1999 could both be 25/26 July, even though the relevant Quarterbumpers said so, I looked those dates up. 1999 must therefore have been 24/25 July, as those dates were the Sat/Sun.

Well thank you for those kind words Michael - knowing you're reading it avidly, I will certainly have to make good use of the spell checker & thesaurus

Having found a July 2000 copy of the mk1 cortina owners club magazine Steve, I can now confirm the 2000 date as 22/23 July, so that should be them all.

Was there another club prior to the LCR?

I remember my brother and I each in a lotus cortina
Attend a club meeting in Bromley around 1978-79 maybe.
It was an interesting evening with a concourse delegance
With some arriving on a trailer or two especially but it included some Castrol period movies from the 60’s.
Afterwards we decided to see who could get home first down the A21.
He won in his black mk2 as I stopped to top up my GTX at Sidcup, (car cost £275 2 years earlier!).
Happy days
Brendan

Tommy - what can I say , excellent. Many thanks for taking the time to dig all this info out. If we don't start to collate this info now it would be lost forever , which will be a shame. I'll get this list into the next QB to try and get some photo's from members and with a bit of luck we can start adding the content to the new website.

Hopefully it will bring back some memories for long term members and gee the newer ones up a bit to participate in future events.
