THE BIGGEST MISTAKE IN MY LIFE

Post by LOTUS ANGLIA »

i live not far from jim clarks house so here is a little story for you that i will never forget
away back in 1975 when i was 15 years old i was standing with some mates in the village i live.there was a local road rally on when a mk1 lotus cortina come down the road very slow with a flat back tyre.the guy stopped and asked us if we new where he could borrow a wheel.my brother at that time had a mk1 15gt so i got the wheel and give it to the guy.he give me his number and address and told me to give him a phone or just pick the wheel up at his house.i left it for a couple of weeks then went to pick up the wheel
when i arrived at his house we went to his garage.when he opened the garage door the cortina was sitting with know engine it it
he asked me if i knew anyone wanting to buy it as he was building another car.i asked him how much he was looking for £150 i was 15 and didint have that much my mum offerd me the money but i would have to pay her back so i didint bother.i told a friend about it who then told his mate and he bought it .the car lay for a few years with the guy then the BOMPSHELL
IT TURNED OUT TO BE A WORKS MK1 LOTUS CORTINA REG (KPU)

Great story, Lotus Anglia. I am sure there are a lot more stories of historical opportunities missed. Anyone care to let us into their past offerings that were turned down.

Any history attached to your Lotus Anglia? Any competition data? Is it a recent conversion, or has it been in this configuration for a while?
