Any informations about HME 126 B ?

Post by elan s1 »

Hello,
I´ve bought a LC MK1 last year in Germany.
The car is in pieces and some welding is done in a bad way.
Before I start to restore the car I try on this way to get some
informations about the car.
VIN is missing, a selfmade chassis plate is in the car which tells the
chassis no. Z74D424161C. In the front screen is a tax sticker which
tells the following:
N0878478 expires 30:11:85 HME 126 B 1558cc 90Pounds
and on the stamp Wadebridge 27 DE 84 Cornwall
In the left rear window is a sticker, burnt by the sun, Lotus Cortina Register.
The speedo shows 37139 miles. With the car are all the alloy body
panels except the bonnet which is steel. Some parts are missing.
The only paperwork I have is a bill when someone bought the car in
England from
Nutfield Ridge Trading Company
6 North Station Approach
South Nutfield Surrey RH1 4JF

The bill tells the Reg. No. HME 126 B and Chassis No. Z74D424161C
The name of the man who signed this invoice is:
N. Alexander
10 Yeoman(this is difficult to read) Way
Redhill SY
Tel.No. RH69093

Hope someone of you can help me.
Cheers

Hi Elan - it looks like your car has been around the UK a bit.

The ME part of the UK registration means it was first registered in London by Middlesex County Council. Im not sure if they hold old registration details but it may be worth you contacting them - you'll find there details on the net.

Your next step would be to write to the DVLA asking them for copies of the old look books. This should give you the owners from the Mid 70's onwards.

There is a Yeoman Way in Redhill , Surrey. Its not too far from me. As a last resort its worth you writing to that address just in case the old owner still lives there.

Best of luck.

Hi Steve 155C,

Thanks for your reply on my questions.
I thought you possible have some notes about the car in your
register. Is it possible you give me the details where to find the DLVA?

Cheers

For the DVLA my understanding is yo have to fill in a V888 form (available here http://www.dvla.gov.uk/media/pdf/forms/v888.pdf ) and sent it off with a small fee - I think its £5.00.

You may want to check with forum member "Green One" as he has just has his keeper history back.
