Current Market values with cars actually selling are only a rough guide.
This is a bold statement, but almost all the cars that have sold lately at auction have been suspect as non genuine!
Not all obviously, but many, therefore, as many prospective buyers would be aware of these "outed cars" auction prices are not indicative of genuine cars sales!

Re: Current UK market values, MK1 and MK2
Being in the market for a MK I LC I was most interested in the ball park values supplied by Keith in this post. However that was almost a year ago. No doubt these have all altered since - assume upwards. Any current figures available please?
Also I understand from reading that a reshell drops the value. This is understandable, but by how much?. Two related questions:
1. If a LC was damaged in an accident and the body was replaced with another LC body of the same period / model is this considered a reshell?
2. If a seller is open about their LC starting life as a Super etc. and not a LC, and the price is adjusted accordingly, then I guess this would not be seen as an issue within the LC community. Willing buyer etc.
I really appreciate all advice.
Best

I wouldn't say that prices have changed much over the year as I haven't seen many change hands. Rikki or Andy run a valuation matrix so should be able to tell.ErrolSchwegmann wrote: ↑Thu 18th Jan 2024 5:23 pm Being in the market for a MK I LC I was most interested in the ball park values supplied by Keith in this post. In answer to the reshell question, my view would be :-
1) Value would not be affected as it's still a genuine shell. I'm not sure where the DVLA would be nowadays?
2) As long as it's declared as such & the buyer is happy with the price no issues I would say. There's a lot around.

Re: Current UK market values, MK1 and MK2
Is there a premium for a 1966 Mk1 Special Equipment?
I have owned it for 42 years and have really never used it, only the 2nd owner with 23,000 on the clock, I believe this to be genuine, old MOT's going back almost a lifetime!
Front strut tops are original and have never been plated, original spot welds clearly visible around rear arches, NO rust anywhere!
All the correct equipment, leather bound steering wheel, Irvin seat belts, grooved cams, adjustable rear shocks.
It has been on axle stands for the last 24 years, time, family and work stopped play, so may be time to say farewell, getting a bit too old now.
Definitely NOT a 'dodgy' one I have been a member here for the last 40+ years!

As well as it being an SE the fact that it is a long term one owner, all original with only 23k miles on it will add to the premium !
I also stored my car for a long time for the same reasons as you but the time might come when you do have the opportunity to get it a usable state without a lot of work to it.

Sounds a great project for someone - how are you going to sell it? If you have any pics upload them here & if you can't work out how to do it email them to me and I will do it keith.p.halstead@gmail.comchris vince wrote: ↑Tue 28th May 2024 1:04 pm Is there a premium for a 1966 Mk1 Special Equipment?

Re: Current UK market values, MK1 and MK2
Hello Keith,
Sorry never made myself clear.
It's not a project, it is on the button, won 2nd place at the Autotrader show last time out.
I am still undecided what to do, after so long it has become part of the family.
