International event in the Netherlands

Post by Lashman »

We've all been invited to this...

Dear Lotus friends,

Lotus Club Holland is considering organizing an international event in the Netherlands during the last weekend in May 2008 or the first weekend in June 2008. We would like to ask you to find out if your club members would be interested in such an event. It is our intention to book all participants into one hotel to strengthen the mutual ties. To this end, however, we need to know the approximate number of participants.

The event will take place in the Amsterdam area and the area north thereof. Not only is this a beautiful area with, for most of you, unknown little villages and landscapes, it will also give you the opportunity to meet old friends and make new contacts, which will add lustre to the weekend. Of course, we have not forgotten about the sporty part. There will be an excursion and an, for some of you renewed, acquaintance with the famous Circuit Park Zandvoort.

We will also go for a nightly round trip of the canals of Amsterdam, which will be a lovely experience for many of us. Having dinner and a drink by candlelight, while seeing the city with lighted bridges and canals, is really special.

Programme (proposal)

Thursday Late afternoon Welcome reception followed by dinner

Friday Morning Driving on Zandvoort's race track

Slalom on Zandvoort’s race track

Lunch

Afternoon Concours d’Elegance

Evening Round trip of the canals of Amsterdam
(transport by bus from the hotel)

Saturday Whole day Excursion in North Holland with a visit to

Marken, Hoorn and Enkhuizen; lunch in an old

Dutch restaurant

Evening Dinner

Sunday Morning Excursion in the area south of Amsterdam

Lunch Lunch followed by a farewell reception

Participation is reserved for members of Lotus clubs, and their partners, with a Lotus.

We will let you know the exact date before 31 December 2007.

The costs per person are: 400,-- euro.

We hope that we have put together an interesting programme and kindly request you to respond to this letter, even if there is little interest from your members.

Kind regards,

Lotus Club Holland

That sounds great! I guess it is a Lotus only event and not open to lookalike Lotus Cortinas? My LC will not be in one piece by then, but my trackday car will, and it is a lookalike.

I seriously doubt that would be any problem, I'll see if I have a contact to find out.

Note that June 7th/8th is Cortina Day at Symonds Yat (possibly a 2 day event this year).

We can confirm that "Cortina Day" will take place over the w/e of 7th / 8th June.
We are still working on the possibility of making it a 2 day event.

The above is an extract from an email i received from the Three Counties Ford Group on 13th January. I also have number to contact for camping booking. I'll check first before posting someones phone number on here.

The Mk2 owners club will have an allocated area and we'll have spares as well.

I have it on good authority that the weather will be ........... (did that bit in invisible ink so i cant be blamed if it's inaccurate).
