Handbrake Mechanism

Post by scrab »

I have recently purchased a MK Lotus Cortina, and new to the Forum/Register. The car is in a dismantled state, and I am in the process of working out what parts are missing. I have no knowledge of the dash handbrake setup, the handle is present, but I would like to find out what the remainder of the mechanism consists of. If anyone has a diagram or can explain this would help me

The chrome handle has a small cable attached which hooks over the top of a pivot lever mounted on a pin on the steering box and then a long cable is hooked over the bottom of that lever - in turn this links to a clevis pin on the actuating arm on one of the rear drums.

The parts list book has a diagram of the components.

Thanks for the help. How do I obtain the parts catalogue for future reference, I'm sure I'll need it? I'm in Derby so if there is any members local who wouldn't mind me looking at their car please let me know

Yes that is unusual. Sorry to mention it and I'm sure our administrators will fix it!

Hi Steven. Welcome to the LCR. I can see your subs payment , and have now updated your forum access. You will be able to see a lot more info now. I have passed your info onto the membership secretary so expect a copy of the club mag in the post late Sep / October.

Thanks , Steve.
